Lauren Von Dehsen – Curiosity Cabinet

I used an dc motor and a photo sensor to turn on the string wheel when the box was open and slow it when it closes. I also added a potentiometer for “fine tune adjustments” as it controls the maximum speed on the wheel. One problem, I put the photo sensor by the potentiometer so when the knob is turned, no light gets to the sensor and the wheel stops.

Then I tried it the other way… making it spin while the box is closed and stopping when open. It kind of creates a record of the time the box was closed but it can get frustrating to not see the wheel turning.
